Ooh, it's so big! (This entry, I mean)

Hey guys, how ya doin? Oh yeah? Hm, well that's good to hear.
Anyway, I've been putting this post off for a few days. Figured it was about time to actually do it. If I do everything I've planned on, this'll probably be the richest post yet. Then again, I usually run out of steam or forget things. Oh well, we'll see how it goes. I'll just dive on in.

Indie Games
No, not Indiana Jones. Independent games. I was watching The Screen Savers on G4TechTV and caught a segment about indie games, and specifically an indie game site called Game Tunnel. Decided to check out their list of the best indie games of 2004, and downloaded a bunch of demos. Some were good. Some had annoying demo limits. Some didn't float my boat. But these did:

BreakQuest by Nurium Games
Price: $20 (Demo available - 5 levels)
Ok, so you've seen DXBall, Breakout, Arkanoid, blah blah blah. It's old news, it's played out. Well this game flies in the face of all that and says "Hey guys, I'm actually freakin' awesome!" And awesome it is. My first impression of this game was "This is the Rez of Breakouts." And while that's not entirely accurate, I still hold to it, because it's just that good. It's got a very robust physics engine, innovative weapons/powerups/powerdowns, very original stage designs, crisp graphics, and great sound. Just the five levels I played in the demo were very satisfying, and the full game has 100 different stages. Best Breakout Ever? BreakQuest has MY vote.

Hamsterball Gold by Raptisoft
Price: $15 (Demo available - timed, I think)
Remember Marble Madness on the NES? If you don't, let's just say it's probably what the underlying inspiration for Super Monkey Ball is. The concept: you're a marble. You want to get to the goal. There's a tricky environment full of pitfalls, traps, and other things designed to get in your way. That's it. Well this is Marble Madness, only in true 3D and a hamster in a ball. It takes that same old gameplay concept, gives it a fresh coat of paint, a tune up, and hangs a little pine air freshener from the mirror. The levels I played were good, but then the "demo over!" screen popped up and I havent really picked it up since. It was worth the time i spent with it. Reccommended.

Glace by Tommy Visic
Price: Totally free!
Glace is the quintissential platformer. You get some nifty abilities, romp through colorful environments full of colorful stuff, jump around and stuff, you know the drill. The story, from what I've seen, is lame and pretty much throwaway. It's still a good game. I like the abilities you get. I'd appreciate a bit more variety, though.

Those are the only games that I really enjoyed out of the ones I played. All were found via Game Tunnel. Check them out for more great games and their reviews of these games.

Flash Movies
Found some good ones for you guys.

8-Bitch5: EvilOnTheAttack By: Disaster Labs
The Arfenhouse crew is back, baby! Honestly, I shouldnt have to say anything else. Pure hilarity.

FF: Mixed in Balamb 2 (1/3) By: 5-7

This really surprised me. I think I remember passing up the first installment in this series, seeing the title and passing it off as yet another FF flash. I decided to give this a shot and, to my amazement, it was actually quite good. Watch it, it doesn't disappoint.

Green Brown By: thirstyforchicken
Just a nicely done little fight scene.

Super Mario Gaming World By Blordow
Another Mario movie. Clever. I liked it.

Videos
